Housekeeping and reflecting in the month of Ramadhan

Bismillah...
Wow, didn't realise that this blog account is still up and running after all these years.
I am typing a diary/journal of sorts on Awesome Note on my iPad as a form of emotional therapy and reflection after what had happened last Sunday morning. May Allah gives me strength. The entries are going to be written as if I'm talking to my 2 beloved boys, Hakim & Zaki. Explaining to them why their parents did what they did and regardless of anything that ensues, their parents both love them deeply and unconditionally.

Goodbye to a fellow friend.

Salam boys, Change is the only constant on life. I am having Iftar with Ms Faridah, my school TA, who is leaving the school for greener pastures to better provide for her family. May Allah bless her with bountiful rezeki and good health. Insha'allah!

Alhamdulillah

Bismillah and Salam Boys, It has been a long time since I last wrote to you! Laziness? Maybe. Been busy. Most definitely. No excuses though as reflection is important to remind oneself of why we do what we do. All praise to Allah s.w.t as only he could've have made my marriage with your mom work out. Although grateful, but I'm skeptical that it is long-lasting. Not that I won't keep it together but should this matter be raised again in the future, I would part ways quietly and quickly and move to Perth. Why Perth? It is a beautiful place to raise you boys in! Anyways, praise be to Allah s.w.t once again as only he could've willed your mom to join us for 2 solat sessions at home with all of us. I hope that this is a start to more religious activities that we do as a family. Will write to you soon.

The last lap

I was on my way to marking PSLE scripts @ Toa Payoh. in a crowded mrt train but chillin' with hari raya tunes on my ipod. sepasang kurung biru...such sweet melancholy...thankfully my malay is still good enough to really appreciate the words. sighh... feels good. though eid celebrations have become low key for the past few years, i've stepped it up a notch a bit this year by hanging twinkling lights! energy-effecient LEDs, for the record. : ) wait..there's an unfamiliar raya song being played. Anyways, probably with my sons Hari raya might take on a different meaning in years to come. For me the takbir-my memories of my grandparents it rekindles & the old school, evergreen Raya songs will always be my version of a sweet & tranquil Eid celebrations. one more shout-out to my beloved pupils- all the best for your year-end exams. Your best is yet to come. Insha'allah!
